Position Overview
The Wealth Advisor is responsible for delivering comprehensive financial planning, investment management, and wealth advisory services to high-net-worth (HNW) and ultra-high-net-worth (UHNW) clients. As part of a publicly traded bank, this role requires a high level of professionalism, regulatory awareness, and commitment to providing exceptional client experiences. The advisor will build and manage a portfolio of clients, deepen existing relationships, and drive new business growth while representing the bank’s brand and values.
Key Responsibilities
Client Relationship Management
- Serve as the primary advisor for HNW individuals, families, and business owners.
- Deliver holistic wealth management solutions, including investment planning, retirement planning, tax-efficient strategies, estate planning, banking solutions, and risk management.
- Conduct regular portfolio reviews and maintain proactive communication to ensure client needs are met.
- Partner closely with internal banking, lending, trust, and insurance teams to provide integrated solutions.
Business Development & Growth
- Develop and execute a strategy to grow the client base through networking, referrals, community engagement, and partnerships with internal business units.
- Collaborate with retail, commercial, and private banking teams to identify and convert wealth advisory opportunities.
- Participate in marketing events and outreach programs to enhance the bank’s visibility and presence in the wealth management marketplace.
Investment & Financial Planning Expertise
- Create customized financial plans aligned with clients’ short- and long-term goals.
- Present investment strategies based on risk tolerance, market conditions, and bank-approved investment models or platforms.
- Stay updated on market trends, regulatory changes, and new products to support informed client guidance.
- Ensure all recommendations align with fiduciary standards and internal compliance requirements.
Compliance & Risk Management
- Adhere to all regulatory requirements, including SEC, FINRA, and OCC guidelines where applicable.
- Maintain accurate, detailed client records in accordance with the bank’s policies.
- Manage risk appropriately and escalate issues when needed to protect client and institutional interests.
Collaboration & Leadership
- Work cross-functionally with trust officers, portfolio managers, commercial bankers, mortgage specialists, and other bank partners.
- Mentor junior advisors or associates as needed to support team development.
- Contribute to broader wealth management initiatives, product development feedback, and process improvements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or related field required; advanced degree preferred.
- 5–10+ years of wealth management, financial advisory, or private banking experience at a bank, RIA, or brokerage firm.
- Professional designations strongly preferred: CFP®, CFA®, ChFC®, or CPWA®.
- FINRA Series 7 & 66 (or 63/65) licenses required; insurance licenses preferred.
- Proven track record of building and retaining a portfolio of HNW clients.
- Strong knowledge of investment products, wealth planning strategies, and banking solutions.
- Excellent communication, relationship-building, and consultative sales skills.
Preferred Experience
- Experience working for a publicly traded or regulated financial institution.
- Exposure to complex lending solutions, business owner financial planning, and trust/estate strategies.
- Strong ties to local market networks and referral sources.
