We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Fund Accountant to join a growing investment management organization. This role is ideal for candidates with prior private equity fund accounting experience or professionals coming directly from public accounting with financial services and/or private equity client exposure. The Fund Accountant will support the accounting, reporting, and operational activities for a portfolio of investment funds while working closely with internal finance leadership, operations teams, auditors, administrators, and external stakeholders. This position offers strong exposure to fund structures, investment activity, and partnership accounting within a collaborative and growth-oriented environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain fund-level accounting records for private equity investment vehicles
- Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes
- Prepare investor capital call and distribution allocations
- Reconcile cash, investment activity, and partner capital accounts
- Assist in the preparation and review of quarterly and annual financial statements
- Coordinate with external fund administrators, auditors, and tax providers
- Support waterfall calculations and carried interest allocations
- Review and analyze investment transactions, including purchases, sales, and valuations
- Assist with audit support and preparation of supporting schedules and workpapers
- Support management reporting and ad hoc analysis for senior leadership
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and partnership accounting standards
- Participate in process improvement initiatives and system enhancements
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- CPA or CPA-track strongly preferred
- 1–4+ years of experience in:
- Private Equity / Fund Accounting, OR
- Public Accounting with Financial Services and/or Private Equity clients
- Understanding of partnership accounting concepts preferred
- Experience with investment management, private equity, hedge fund, or alternative investment structures is a plus
- Strong Excel skills and comfort working with large data sets
- Experience with fund accounting platforms or ERP systems is preferred
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
