Job Description
The Scientific Director will serve as the key scientific lead on client accounts, providing editorial, scientific, and strategic expertise. They will be responsible for managing content development across various media formats and ensuring that all materials align with established budgets, timelines, and strategic objectives.
Responsibilities
- Assume individual responsibility for clinical content development across print, live, and digital formats.
- Demonstrate in-depth scientific knowledge in one or more therapeutic areas.
- Provide strategic direction and leadership to client teams.
- Continuously monitor the marketplace and provide updates on disease-specific advances, guidelines, and competitor activity.
- Ensure that projects reflect a thorough understanding of clients' product strategy and communication objectives.
- Verify that scientific statements are supported appropriately.
- Effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders.
- Participate in medical/legal/regulatory reviews as needed.
- Lead the team in identifying pertinent research related to the client's product and potential new business opportunities.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in medical content development for print, digital, and live programs within a medical communications agency setting.
- Advanced degree in science or public health (preferably PharmD, PhD, MD), or equivalent experience in medical communications/medical publishing.
- Experience in and ability to understand multiple therapeutic areas and the effective use of multiple delivery platforms.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret data and provide strategic/scientific direction to clients.
- Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical standards, compliance, and regulations.
- Excellent communications skills (oral, written, presentation).
- Strong self-motivation and enthusiasm with demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic, highly detail-oriented environment.
- Ability to manage projects with limited direction and work within tight deadlines.
