We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual to join our investment company as a Tax Director. In this strategic leadership role, you will oversee all aspects of tax planning, compliance, and reporting for the organization, ensuring compliance with tax laws and regulations while optimizing tax efficiency and minimizing tax risks. You will lead a team of tax professionals, collaborate closely with internal stakeholders, and provide expert guidance on tax matters impacting the company's investment activities. Key Responsibilities:

  1. Tax Strategy Development: Develop and implement tax strategies that align with the company's business objectives, investment activities, and risk tolerance, with a focus on optimizing tax efficiency and minimizing tax liabilities.
  2. Tax Compliance: Oversee the preparation and filing of all federal, state, and local tax returns, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with applicable tax laws and regulations, including partnership tax filings and international tax reporting.
  3. Tax Planning: Provide strategic tax planning advice and guidance on a wide range of issues, including entity structuring, acquisitions, dispositions, and other investment transactions, to minimize tax consequences and maximize after-tax returns.
  4. Tax Reporting: Coordinate the preparation of tax provisions, deferred tax calculations, and financial statement disclosures in accordance with ASC 740, ensuring accurate and timely reporting of tax-related information for financial reporting purposes.
  5. Tax Research and Analysis: Stay abreast of changes in tax laws, regulations, and rulings, and assess their impact on the company's tax position and investment strategies, conducting research and analysis as needed to evaluate tax implications and opportunities.
  6. Tax Risk Management: Identify tax risks and exposures related to the company's investment activities, develop and implement strategies to mitigate risks, and ensure compliance with tax-related contractual obligations and regulatory requirements.
  7. Tax Controversy Management: Manage tax audits and inquiries from tax authorities, including responding to information requests, negotiating settlements, and representing the company's interests in discussions with tax authorities.
  8. Team Leadership: Lead and develop a team of tax professionals, providing guidance, training, and mentorship to support their professional growth and ensure the effective execution of tax-related initiatives and projects.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; advanced degree in Taxation or CPA certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in tax roles, with significant experience in tax planning and compliance for investment companies, private equity, or hedge funds.
  • Deep knowledge of federal, state, and international tax laws and regulations, including partnership taxation, investment tax credits, and tax treaties.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex tax issues, evaluate alternatives, and develop practical solutions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex tax concepts to non-tax professionals and senior management.
  • Proven leadership and team-building skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a team of tax professionals and foster a collaborative and high-performing work environment.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
